About Me

Belfast born. Kent raised. Sheffield educated. Local Government schooled. Currently promoting collaboration and innovation across Groundwork UK, a federation of local environmental charities.
Prior to joining Groundwork UK I worked as a freelance Associate for a number of organisations, including as a project lead and public policy specialist for the social design agency thinkpublic. In these roles I drew upon the knowledge and experience gained working in senior strategy and policy roles in local government.
Outside of work, I am a passionate advocate for digital technology and community engagement. As well as being a regular blogger and contributor to Birmingham Social Media Cafe I provide help and advice to community groups and active citizens at Central Birmingham Social Media Surgery.
In 2011 I founded the intergenerational music project, Roots of Reggae, http://rootsofreggae.wordpress.com/ and Twitter @RootsofReggae. The project has been on hiatus since I moved to Birmingham in May 2012, however, I hope to build on its success in Birmingham.
Feel free to get in touch with me about any interesting projects or other opportunities where I could make a useful contribution. You can email at clarke.francisg@gmail.com.
